Proud to stand with my colleagues in support of protecting the jobs of MBTA machinists and bus mechanics this morning. Our machinists are literally the best in the nation, but right now, Gov. Baker is looking to use the authority given to him during the previous legislative session to privatize these jobs. All we need to do is look at the terrible job Keolis has done with the Commuter Rail to see that privatization of transit simply does not work for Massachusetts residents. That's why I support the Taxpayer Protection Act (a.k.a. the "Pacheco Law") and am working to raise significant new revenue to invest in our system of public transportation.
