This afternoon, the House adopted legislation I co-sponsored along with Cambridge and Somerville colleagues to put a stop to the Bristol County Sheriff's plan to use local inmates as free labor to build Trump's wall along the border with Mexico. This is the first concrete step our legislature has taken to resist the Trump agenda, and I am proud to have advocated for this bill in testimony to the Judiciary Committee earlier this month.
That said, we still have a long way to go to protect immigrants and defend our American values from the Trump/GOP agenda of hatred and xenophobia, and that is why it is so important we all show up for the public hearing on the Massachusetts Safe Communities Act on June 9th.
